Celebrating the achievements of our ridiculously intelligent & rock star members, here is our third issue of Montreal Girl Geeks in the News!

Genevieve L’Esperance

Genevieve L’Esperance will be spending the summer as Microsoft’s poster child for getting teenage girls interested in technology, while she promotes a new free software called Worldwide Telescope.


Janina Szkut

Janina Szkut the Developer, Teacher and Army Builder was featured on Next Montreal and deserves big kudos for her awesome python workshop where close to 100 women came to learn the basics.

Kathryn Presner

Kathryn Presner will be giving two talks at WordCamp Montreal in July: Beginner’s Guide to WordPress, with fellow Girl Geek Shannon Smith, and Take Control of Your Templates with WordPress Conditionals.


Robin Ahn

Robin Ahn will be speaking at The McGill Women’s Alumnae Association (MWAA) this weekend about networking and “how to remain unflappable in the face of adversity, practicing the pitch, and not forgetting to make “the ask.”


Roseanne Harvey

Roseanne Harvey will also be giving a talk about WordPress for Non-profits – Blogging & Content Creation. You can check out the schedule here.


Shannon Smith

Shannon Smith’s blog Breast for the Weary has been nominated in three categories for the Canadian Weblog Awards: Best New Weblog, Best Weblog About Family & Parenting, and Best Feminist Weblog. She is also giving a solo talk at WordCamp Montreal titled, The Future Is Mobile.


Tara Hunt

Tara Hunt’s startup Buyosphere was featured on Mashable and she was also interviewed on The Flyover Effect about rebranding her startup as part of the fundraising process.
